Shanoya Douglas
(Muschett)
Of all the new stars, the first year class II athlete shines brightest of all. At the carifta trials, she ran 22.85 (2.1w), and her clash with Terrelonge (Edwin Allen) over this distance is greatly anticipated.
Theianna-Lee Terrelonge (Edwin Allen)
This is her first year in class II, but Terrelonge is easily the fastest high school girl over 100m. Her 11.25 run at carifta trials opened a lot of eyes, and her clash with Sabrina Dockery (Lacovia) and Shanoya Douglas (Muschett) in both the 100m and 200m events should be the highlight of the girls championships.
Natrece East (Wolmers)
East is expected to win the class three sprint double, but it is her 23.27 (-0.3w) performance at the corporate championships that has fans wondering if she will be the first class III athlete to run below 23 seconds in the 200m event.
Habiba Harris (STETHS)
At last year’s carifta trials, Harris defeated world junior silver medallist Alexis James in the 100m hurdles. But injury brought a sudden end to her 2023 track season. At his year’s trials, she ran 12.95 seconds, joining an elite group of junior athletes who have run below 13
