This race will be a three-way battle as the three medalists from the Tokyo Olympics are expected to meet again to battle it out for the medals.  The World Record holder and Olympic champion, Karsten Warholm enters this event with a question mark lingering over his head as fans last saw him pulled up after the first hurdle of his first race since September with what he believes was a hamstring cramp. He has revealed that he is not in the best shape of his life in comparison to former years when he opened his season. The two-time defending World champion 2017 and 2019 has also spoke about how difficult it is for him to stay motivated after taking this event to another level by breaking the WR twice. The most notable and jaw-dropping time was in the Olympic final when he ran a whopping 45.94 seconds. Prior to that, he broke the WR running 46.70 seconds. His chief rival, Rai Benjamin, The Olympic silver medalist, hopes to bring the challenge on home soil. Despite his setback contracting the Corona virus, he was s till able to win the USA Track and Field Outdoor Championships running a time of 47.04 seconds which was a world-leading time. However, that world-leading time was short-lived because 4 days later Alison Dos Santos, the 22-year-old Brazilian and Olympic bronze medalist, broke the 400m hurdles record of 46.87 seconds set by Warholm when winning the Stockholm Diamond League in a time of 46.80 seconds which is currently the world leading time. Dos Santos remains undefeated this year, now with four victories in the main world circuit of this event and looks to create an upset.  The other top names that should factor in the final are Kyron McMaster from the British Virgin Islands, who finished fourth at the Tokyo Olympic and Khallifah Rosser, the new comer from the United States who has been running PB each time he graces the track. This event is scheduled to begin on Day 2, July 16 with the heats followed by the semi-final; on Day 3, July 17 and the final Day 5, July 19.  Track fans let’s hear your predictions!
